Licensing question
« on: October 02, 2003, 03:52:41 PM »
I noticed that Avast 4 Home addition states that it is free for noncommercial home use. I have sent several emails inquiring as to whether a site license would be granted to a non-profit, non-commercial, public educational institution (k-12).

AVG had granted our institution a free site license after we provided the proper credentials, however, they soon will no longer offer a free version whatsoever.

Any information regarding Avast licensing for such a situation would be very beneficial.

I thought AVG will keep on supporting the free (V6) version ?

this means :

No tech support, but weekly updates. (like it has always been)

I have read about it at Grisoft website, but hey, I could be wrong or outdated offcourse.

They will soon discontinue continue releasing updates for 6 after a few months. They have already contacted us with pricing information.

Our school system is in a financial crisis statewide and is unable to fund the purchase of any new software. Staff reductions, etc. are in the very near future for us.

I’m simply trying to find any free viable alternative.
