Browser Issue
« on: October 22, 2005, 11:37:51 PM »
I like playing in pogo and yahoo games. Today from both browsers IE and Mozilla I signed in to both but not at the same time just trying both to see if the same issue would take place.  Once I sign into pogo or yahoo games and select the game I want to play it takes me to several rooms to choose from, I usually choose at random, another window opens to tell me the game is loading and then it happens the loading game window and my browser justs shuts down and disappears from the screen. >:(
My OS is Win XP , I've checked for viruses spyware and adware and have come clean.
So what ya think?

What EXACT version of XP do you have? (start, run, winver)
What other security software do you have installed?
Any error(s) in the XP log files? If so, which ones?

hi Carmel,
This sounds strange , you iether have a problem with your java or a firewall setting perhaps.
go to control panel / java / open it and check version and settings . Hopefully you will only have one icon there.
this is what mine looks like, without knowing what browser you are using .
as a last resort perhaps try a different browser ,firefox or opera and see how you fare.

Cloussau
Your Java is not up to date. Current version is 1.5.0_05-b05.
Remember, stale coffee(Java) is not recommended. ;D

I really do appreciate eo help and suggestions, but I have done all that you have said.  My java might not be current but it was only last week since my nightmare began.  Both my browsers have the yahoo and pogo listed as accepted sites for popups.  Now I have removed the java from my puter and reinstalled java several times before posting here and that is not working .

I'm sooooooooo ticked , as to what to do  :(

Has anything else changed with your system , new software installed? , someone else been using it perhaps. Did you try a 3rd option browser?.
You are always gonna get people (especially here) who will tell you to dump norton and i guess im not excluding myself from that group.
We see it as a big ugly demonic monster that has about eight processes running at any given time and who knows what difficulties  it may or may not create.
Sorry if im no great help but its a whole lot more than you would get from symmantec. :)

:)  I have Win XP SP1 and the latest sun-java and play
games on pogo & yahoo. I recently had a lot of previous
"versions" of the Runtime Environment program and a
Microsoft MVP encouraged me to uninstall ALL of them.
After I did that and deleted all "left-over" java-based
files & folders and used a registry cleaner to remove
       entries there, I went to www.java.com ( not Eddy's link )
and got their latest. Have you tried a similar "process" ?
I assume you know to turn OFF any popup blocker
before entering any game room on either site !?
