« on: September 30, 2013, 09:50:10 PM »
Finally updated from last & version to 8.0.1497. Was sent to website to get avast! Online Security plugin for Google Chrome. Is this necessary and is it actually a good extension? Thanks.

It all depends on your personal preferences, but some extra security never hurts... :-)

Personally, I do not like Chrome since it is really slow.
Especially compared to Opera.

Yes! As the AOS has anti-phishing capabilities built in.
The AOS has given me another dimension of security.
The AOS also has anti-tracking abilities, which is a plus.  :)

As far as Chrome goes it's been my default browser for several months.
It's lighter, faster than Firefox or Opera. And it's the most popular browser in use today.

Check out these browser statistics.
Dell Inspiron, Win10x64--HP Envy Win10x64--Both systems Avast Free v17.9.2322, Comodo Firewall v8.2 w/D+, MalwareBytes v3.0, OpenDNS, Super Anti-Spyware, Spyware Blaster, MCShield, Unchecky, Vivaldi Browser and, various browser security tools.

Ok, so one of you says Chrome is faster, another slower. That's a bit strange.

AOS doesn't slow Chrome down at all?

And how does phishing work with using your browser? Fake pop-ups on webpages/websites?

Thanks.

3) And how does phishing work with using your browser? Fake pop-ups on webpages/websites?
1) I have tried Opera and found it to be slower than Chrome.
2) Not in the least. I also use PrivDog along side.
3) Information about phishing can be found  here. avast will help protect you from phishing sites.  8)
