I really don't think the scanner speed can be improved (other than simply scanning less).

But on the other hand,how ESET guys can make it? NOD32 is the fastest scanner ever seen by me. There obviously is some way to improve scan speed. Just take your time,maybe you'll find something hehe

NOD32 always had better detection rate than avast! and even setting the active scanner of NOD32 to scan all files, NOD32 is much quicker than avast!...

By "scanning less" I just mean scanning smaller parts of files. It doesn't necessarily have to imply worse detection capabilities, if the virus database is built accordingly.
