Flash Player Version Contradiction Q (RESOLVED)
« on: October 04, 2013, 07:24:07 PM »
This morning my sister brought over her Laptop so that I could give it a quick look over to see if anything needed updating, cleaning, tweaking, removing or whatever.

I noticed something that seemed contradictory and possibly just flat out wrong.

Okay, the Laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium with an Intel Core i5.
It is 64-Bit.
Yet on the icon for Flash Player over in the Control Panel it said 32-bit right there on the icon.

The version number for both Flash Players were the latest.
It was just that 32-bit indication on the icon clashing with the 64-bit system type of the Laptop's Windows.
So what gives?  Is the wrong Flash Player installed?

A os can be 64 bits, but that doesn't mean a application has to be in order to run.
Go HERE and let us know what is says.

I think that a screenshot would be helpful.

Flash player updates as far as I'm aware are now dual in that they have 32/64 bit combined in the installer. So it should install the required version/s, see http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-64-bit-operating.html for more general information.

Now your OS and CPU might be 64bit, that doesn't mean it doesn't run or isn't capable of running 32bit software. The major issue your browser is 32 or 64 bit; if IE is a 64bit version then the installation of Flash Player should install the 64 bit version. But if you have any 32bit browser then it would install that 32bit version also.

I have a Win7x64 and my flash player has shown "32 bit" ever since I bought the laptop.
It works so I don't worry about it.  :)

Thanks for that helpful link, Eddy.  I bookmarked it and saved it on a Notepad File.

Oh, it works fine on MY computer.  But, I no longer have my sister's Laptop here anymore.  She was only here about 1 hour this morning.

It probably works on her Laptop as well now that I see that Para-Noid has seen and has the same situation in his computer.

I'll probably be upgrading her Laptop's IE7 to IE10 sometime this coming week.  Yeah, I did know that part about there being different Internet Explorer Setup Files depending on the version of Windows and whether the system was 32-Bit or 64-Bit.

Now I just have to see if I get a chance to download the IE10 Windows 7 (64-Bit) Setup File over at my sister's house this weekend.

Thanks, Eddy, David, Para-Noid.
