AVAST ANTIVIRUSE UPDATE
« on: May 20, 2005, 07:56:42 AM »
I use avast Home (not Pro) since 7 months with excellent results
But from yesterday the "Update" is not performed due to an "Error 80" : " connection impossible"
Could you drive me to correct a certainly bad configuration?
(sorry for my not conventional english vocabulary !!)
Thanks

Do you use a firewall?
If so what is it and does it allow avast.setup access to the internet?
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.4.6112 (build 24.4.9067.762) UI 1.0.803/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I have to mention that suddenly, simultaneously,  the option "HOTBAR" appear in wanadoo Outlook Express, whereas a asked nothing. Since I suppressed this option
Thanks for your assistance

Some times Zone Alarm (that is a firewall) forgets some settings.

You need to check the allowed Programs section in ZA and ensure avast.setup is allowed. Sorry I can't be more helpful, I don't use ZA.

You can try a manual update, right click on the avast icon and select Updating, iAVS Update or Program. This should initiate an update check and ZA should ask for permission if it is not an authorised program.

No Firewall, only "Zone Alarm"
Well, Zone Alarm is precisely a firewall  ;D
The following programs should be allowed to connect:

ashServ.exe (avast! antivirus service)
ashWebSv.exe (avast! Web Scanner) (allow server rights)
ashMaiSv.exe (avast! e-Mail Scanner Service) (allow email rights)
ashUpdSv.exe (avast! Update Service)
avast.setup (avast! Update executable)
The best things in life are free.

Click on the link below to run an online spyware scan that will remove hotbar.

Then click on "Click here to scan"
