So does this mean that ASWCLEAR works best in Normal Mode, after removing Avast from Control Panel?
aswClear will ask you to reboot into Safe Mode. Simply agree and the program does the rest.

  • It will offer to reboot to safe mode .. no need to do that
This is why I asked. So, normal or safe?

aswclear.exe, when placed on the desktop and double-clicked, will ask first if you want to reboot into Safe Mode.  Click Yes, and aswclear.exe will automatically reboot your system and put you into Safe Mode.

Be sure to only select folders/files related to avast/awil, as it will remove all/whatever folders/files selected.  So, you want to be sure you're selecting only avast! related folders and files, including older versions of avast!/awil.  Reboot into normal mode when done.

[EDIT:]  Above advice is in error with the newest aswclear.exe version.  Apparently the latest version will automatically select only avast! files and folders, and then when done, automatically reboot your system into normal Windows.
