Question on Avast Home v4.6.739 Boot scan
« on: December 08, 2005, 10:16:15 PM »
G'day Avast,

I have the latest Avast Home v4.6.739 on my XP Pro, I am looking forward to see how much improvement Avast has done in the Boot scan section which allow virus move to the chest section automatically during the boot scan.

I am a bit concern of the wording they used in the boot scan settings if you could help me clear this understanding, in the boot scan settings it said delete or move to chest does this mean some virus will get deleted and some will move to chest folder.

I mean I don't want the Avast anti-virus software to delete anything on the system, I just wanted it to move into the chest folder during the boot scan. Because some files may not turn out to be a real virus attack, some can be a host or false alarm.

Do you understand what I am talking about in the boot scan settings section.

Thank you.

Kinda a stupid question...Does the avast! boot scan scan the entire system?

@ Speedy
As far as I know this (or) implies a choice.

No I don't understand what you mean by the boot scan settings, rather it should be the Schedule Boot-time Scan which if you tick the advanced gives a number of other options. However, I'm not sure if this advance option is available for both the Pro and Home versions?

@ youngabe
See the image and you have the option of all drives or a selection.

Boot time scanning is the same in Home and Professional versions.
The 'area' that will be scanned is set in the window you've posted David: all drives or a selection.

SpeedyPC, where exactly do you see "delete or move to chest"?
