Just an update. My wife's licences were merged and the new package runs until 2017.

Let's hope that when 2017 gets here, you'll still remember what went wrong this time.
If you aren't sure, ask here first. Some of those who followed your trials and tribulations
may actually be around in 2017. (Myself included Ihope.... :) )

Would you believe it. After all the emails to and from avast and this extensive thread, I have just had a pop up telling me that my licence expires in 9 days. And I thought that I had another 3 years or or so. Promises,  promises.

If your Subscription section shows the correct expiry date ?
Then check the system date to ensure that is correct and adjust as required.

If the system date is correct then try an avast repair:

Vista, win7 or later - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Uninstall/Change and select Repair, click next and follow.

You may need to reboot after the repair.

This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual information.

If your Subscription section shows the correct expiry date..................it doesn't David. It shows expirey as 13/12/2014!

Then check the system date to ensure that is correct and adjust as required........where do I find the System Date?

Will proceed when I find system date. ;)

Double click on the Time in the system tray at the bottom right of the screen - that opens up to show the full time, day month and year a.k.a. system date.

That said if it is showing an expiry date of 13/12/2014 it isn't likely to be an issue of the system date being wrong (a future date, not today).

Did they send you a new license file after the merging of the two licenses ?
If so did you enter that new license into the existing installation ?

Double click on the Time in the system tray at the bottom right of the screen - that opens up to show the full time, day month and year a.k.a. system date......If you are referring to the window with the calander David, then the day, date and time are correct.

That said if it is showing an expiry date of 13/12/2014 it isn't likely to be an issue of the system date being wrong (a future date, not today).............. if you mean the  pop-up expirey notification, I agree!

Did they send you a new license file after the merging of the two licenses? ............I honestly can't remember but I do remember that I was glad that it had been sorted out.
If so did you enter that new license into the existing installation ? .............I would think so, but again, to be perfectly honest, I really can't remember.

Thank you for your input David, but as I type, the Avast pop-up "Your antivirus expires in 18 days", has just appeared. I will send them one email referring to the correspondence we had last time as well as a link to this thread. And if that doesn't get the issue sorted out, then after almost 10 years, I will be gone. :( :( :(

You're welcome.

I actually meant if the expiry date displayed in the avast User interface - Subscription section or about avast. See attached image - whilst this is from my free version, basically where it mentions Registration that would be Subscription in paid versions.

Going back over your fist post of this particular round of posts - You mention that you got a popup stating that you had 9 days remaining - yet on this one it stated 19 days to do, which is somewhat strange if the two statements are correct.

Not good, I have tried to draw attention to this topic again - not sure how successful I/that might be.

Thank you for that David but I guess it's a lost cause. If the powers that be think that I am going to pay  £29.99 for another year of such poor service, then they must think again.
