I've been using avast! antivirus for 2 + years now and my thoughts and opinion for that, are more than positive. As for the new Avast! 2014 (aka 9), I like its features very much, however the new UI is horrible - I'm sorry to admit, I just hate it and it's the first time I do.

Avast 7 and 8 UI were FAR better :( I tired to get used but it's just horrible in terms of beauty - I hope you'll consider it and may make a few changes. The avast 8 graphics (with he shields, the lights on each shield that were working, the cloud graphics - were just a total beauty.) - but not the 2014 one sorry guys.

Love ya though, ya know it!

with regards
George

~ a HUGE avast user and fan! :)

+1 :)

I agree with you .

v9 UI is not bad at all but v8 looked nicer :)

Cheers.

Maybe I'm missed this mentioned somewhere else, but the new version is listed as 9.0.1500, NOT 9.0.2006 under program update available in my GUI.

Is this an error or does this mean that I can't update manually through the GUI. I'm asking because my system was one of the group who couldn't manually update from AIS 7 to AIS 8 from the GUI...we had to do a clean install. We all had  the wrong program version available listed in the update section of the GUI back then.

Thanks.

Aaaaand....I've noticed it just now...Avast! Online Security plug-in can't be repositioned in Firefox.... ??? why???

Unfixed bug.

No problem here, I moved the old webrep icon some considerable time ago and despite firefox and avast program updates. Since then the avast icon has remained in place on my browser, currently firefox 24.0.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.2.6105 (build 24.2.8918.824) UI 1.0.799/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

AOS uses different technologies than WOT, Do Not Track Me, and PrivDog.
It's an added layer of privacy. I happen to use AOS, WOT and PrivDog together.
I like my privacy. For further security I use multiple web scanners.  :)
Dell Inspiron, Win10x64--HP Envy Win10x64--Both systems Avast Free v17.9.2322, Comodo Firewall v8.2 w/D+, MalwareBytes v3.0, OpenDNS, Super Anti-Spyware, Spyware Blaster, MCShield, Unchecky, Vivaldi Browser and, various browser security tools.

"Look before you leap!" Use online scanners before you click on any link.

ok, I have a stupid question: when using this new version, how do you run a "full" scan?. I was only able to do a "quick scan". what am I missing?

01 - Double click on Avast shortcut;
02 - Scan - left panel;
03 - On right panel, drop down from "quick scan" to "full scan"...

Hope that helps! ;)

The new win8-like UI is just HORRENDOUS. The previous one was FAR BETTER.
Anything that looks like win8 is horrible. It looks like win 3.1, flat and horrible pastel-like colors. Just Awful.

....Upgrade from previous version ok so far....
But! Can´t open the AvastUI, neither by left click nor right clicking the icon - have to start the AvastUI  by myself through the explorer..... Some new feature?

Sorry for stupidity of this...
Went from 8.0.1497-->9.0.2006 via UI. Seems to be OK. There used to be a page where the browser plug-in's could be enabled/disabled. Can't seem to find this in 2014?

[Dell deimension 4600 w/ 1.2GB RAM, WIN XP SP3]

EDIT[ADDED]: Also, ASVASTSVC is running constantly and is using 15-20% CPU and doing a lot of I/O, never HAD this with old version

EDIT[ADDED]: Rebooted and AVASTSVC has calmed down (for now). Something made it constanly run before?

The status window is not resizeable and can't be maximized. Is there anyway to change this?
