I have a question in relation to updates. The main reason I went with Avast is of course it is free, but the updates are smaller in size than Trend Micro's products.

I am assuming the virus updates are still small in the new version less than 2mb  ? As I have a limit of how much I can download each month .

There are one or maybe two VPS updates a day but there are a lot of updates silently streamed (GUI>Statistics>Component Updates)

Streaming updates have been in since v7.
Windows 10 Home 64-bit • Avast Free (latest stable version) •  Malwarebytes 4 Premium (On-Demand) • Windows Firewall Control • Google Chrome • LastPass • CCleaner • O&O ShutUp10 •

So with my 5gb of internet allowance each month , Avast virus updates would make up less than 500mb ?

What are the sizes of the Virus updates , as I recall when I had dial up they downloaded ok.

All running smooth, updates regular as clockwork, my special sounds neatly there.
As with all new things, you have to get accustomed to it, but it will fit as a glove in no time.
Thanks avast! team, great accomplishment!

Have the avast Premier 2014.
It is rubbish, I am have more problems than it's worth.
Uses up vast amount of ram, crashes Win 7, Re-aligns Icons & looks Friggin awful.
The 2013 version worked wonderfully, silently in the backround.
This monster is utter crap.
I have 6gbs of ram, Win 7 Premium, 64-bit operating system.
Which grinds every thing to a slow grinding halt.

Looks nice but you should show the antivirus program services again, like mail protection, web, etc...
Because you just made it look like avira, comodo and avg. You might not lose members but new people won't see why they should chose avast. You should show off with the program a little bit.  ???

This. I much prefer being able to see the activity on the shields when I open Avast rather than opening another window with the new Statistics bit. Also the look of the old shields, the way you could look at the old shields and see, for example, 443000/0 to know there hadn't been any problems.

Other annoyances are just cosmetic really, not being able to resize the main window, and scans no longer keep track of how long they've been running or how many files and folders they scanned.

Sometimes I leave my home machine connected to the internet and goes to work, and when I come back I check whether Avast! found anything suspicious. In this new version I do not see this option. In addition, the new GUI is a candy to the eye but the previous one was more convenient to understand, in my opinion.
Anyway, thank you Avast! for a great product.

I like the new version. Some minor issues, but it's ok. I only hate 1 thing.

Where is the time? I wan't to see how much time has passed since the scan began. There's no time! I can look at the clock, but avast 8 had an excellent feature: the time!!!!!!!!! lolol
