Be interesting to know how many people install a 3rd party firewall and overlook the condition of the windows firewall and yet experience no issues. ;)

hi Arnold72,

The UI of AVAST 2014 is the best UI I've ever seen! I hope that version 2014 will become better soon, because there are still some problems on Windows 8.1! I am waiting for update!

I would hazard a guess that many are awaiting an update. The developers are certainly all over it. :)

Folks - I have recommended nothing but Avast to my customers for the last several years. (Hopefully, a number of them have converted to paid subscriptions!) Suddenly, today, i'm getting calls from *all* of them because they can no longer open web pages. If i turn off the web shield protection in Avast!, web navigation returns to normal. I normally use Chrome, which seems not to have the same problem, but IE9 and 10 take upwards of four minutes to load any web site, and sometimes so long i've not been willing to wait! I believe i'm about to have an extremely busy day, with another busy one in the future when this problem is resolved! This is with 2014.9.0.2006. Any ETA on a fix for the problems this version seems to have introduced?

Yes this is an issue.
From what I've read, if "Avast Online Security" is disabled the problems no longer exists for some users.

I have installed 2014 on over 10 computers with windows operating systems. It locks up the ie brouser on every one of them... it does not matter windows version, 32 or 64 bit,,, locks them all up. I uninstalled avast and they all worked again. I have used Avast for over 20 years and it has never done this. Is anyone else having issues.

Since updating to the latest Avast IS i can no longer access my laptop with my media
server (Mede8erX3D1000).
I see a lot of other people are having the same problem with various other media servers,
and it's all down to the Avast firewall.
I had to remove the Avast firewall while doing a custom install so my media server would work
again.
Do you think there will be a fix for this sometime soon. Was working fine before the update.

I just filed a ticket about the same issue. The Internet Security 2014's firewall seems to be blocking Windows SMB (Samba) file sharing. Turning the firewall of confirms this. The Windows 8 (and 7) own built-in firewall does not, so for now I'm using that one... I hope they can fix this; it's totally not ok for a program to cripple such a basic usage scenario (has this even been tested properly?).

I find Avast 9 hard to use.

All Features are hidden deep inside and not easy to find them.

I've been spending ages to look for Exclusions. There're some kinds of Exclusions. I added to this kind of Exclusions, but program doesn't not run. I have to look for the other kinds of Exclusions, where are they hidden?

I want to go back to Avast 8, but I'm fking using Windows 8.1, so ...

Dear Pavel,

I installed the new release on the previous one (8.0.1497 I think) just yesterday. After restarting my notebook, I could not access the internet any longer (I had to shut it down to enter the web). I use windows 7, firefox and also have the firewall Zone Alarm.
Is there some setting I should change? Many thanks for your help!!

In ZoneAlarm's interface, remove all rules for Avast.  Then, when you run your internet apps and browsers, ZoneAlarm should request permission for Avast components to access the internet.  You should allow them.

Thank you very much, John!! I'll try and let you know :)

As far as I am concerned the new upgrade is not working as it should!

It certainly doesn't but then it is an almost completely different programme. Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy either (and haven't been for the last two or so years since AVAST has become bloated) but I kind of hope that AVAST soon release a first update and fix some of the many issues reported.

Got to give them the benefit of the doubt and it is freeware. Had I paid I'd perhaps feel a little different about it.

regards

Now look mchain.

I was just statting that sometimes people forget to turn off the windows firewall and have no issues.

Would you please stop hijacking this thread with your irrelevant nonsense.

Thank you.
