Avast 2014 IS: Blocks OpenVPN-based software: tunXten
« on: October 16, 2013, 10:29:50 AM »
The latest (recent) update to 2014 is bringing more problems than ever.

My Open-VPN-based software tunXten (service based app) is not able to start after the installation of Avast 2014

DeepScreen popup show up .. is not able to find anything... promises to launch the application and then fails.

Adding tunXten to the exclusion list ist not of help.

I need urgent help regarding this matter, because it is only working when switching Avast completely off!

I had also downgrade from 2014 :(

my openvpn Connection wont work any longer with the latest Version.

thats a big issue because ofthe Windows 8.1 update last night.

i cant work without vpn and i also cant work without av-protection.

should i uninstall avast and search for another av-solution to get the vpn-connection AND av?

i like avast - installed it on all Notebooks - even in the whole Family but i cant figure out any solution than uninstall avast and installing any Windows 8.1 / openvpn compatible av-software :(

regards

ps. stopping any shield is no Option

Hi All,
thanks for report. Problem is probably caused by conflict with Avast SecureLine (OpenVPN) solution. Please, try to reinstall your OpenVPN software after installation of Avast. It should solve the issue.

Thanks

This problem still exists in Avast 2015. I've upgraded to Avast Pro few days ago and my OpenVPN stopped working. Reinstalling Open VPN software does not solve this issue :(

Only workaround that worked for me was disabling "Secure DNS" screen.

Edit: I had the same problem with the trial version. Reinstall of openvpn after avast worked for me
