Browser Cleanup results

The new Browser Cleanup in Avast 2014 is interesting, but not very well made.

First of all, how do Avast score the addons?
Eg. I have YouTube Center installed, which has a 1-star reputation, which doesn't make any sense, because it's a popular addon, with no bad reputation.

Another example is UCOfficeIntegration class, which I have installed, but not enabled. That's also only a 1-star reputation program, but it's a addon from Microsoft, because I have installed Office 2013, again why the low score.

Also the information level in the cleaner is useless. Eg. my UCOfficeIntegration class, I had to check manually in Internet Explorer, to figure out where it came from, where it was located on my PC, who signed it and so on. Why is such information not in the cleaner program?

To be honest, I rather not have such tools in Avast, when they do such a poor job. It leaves a taste of Avast being bloated which mediocre features.

I uninstalled Browser Cleanup tool because of false positives.
I reported that a few months ago and nothing has changed.
For example this Firefox add-on:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/always-awesome-bar/?src=ss
Also WebRank SEO toolbar for IE:

EagleGet browser integration add-ons in IE and Firefox:

Browser Cleanup tool system based on Avast community usage  is total failure.

Oh, that's quite disappointing to hear.

I can't see my self renewing my license for Avast, when the time comes. Over the last year, it seems Avast has been more about shiny features, then proper protection.

I guess Avast has grown to much.

Sorry for the inconvenience. The rating is based on user feedback / behavior. Only of enough users have seen a specific add-on it get's rated. This is why some add-ons do not have a rating at all. If a lot of users decide to remove or deactivate an add-on it influences the rating.

The Browser Cleanup database currently contains more than 3,5 million add-ons. We see more than 25.000 (!) new add-ons per day for the top browsers. This easily explains why a manual rating is impossible. Unfortunately this causes the rating to be sometimes wrong and we need to fix/improve the rating manually. For this reason we need feedback from our users (you!) in such cases. You can post such problems/requests related to Browser Cleanup here (this is the part of the forum which the Browser Cleanup team constantly monitors):
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=54.0

The add-ons you mentioned have been fixed. If there's more add-ons which are rated wrong please let us know. We'll fix it after checking the background.

NOTE: Please post the add-on ID instead of the name. Sometimes the add-on names are not correct in our database or are duplicate or misused by other (probably) bad add-ons or simply have been renamed over time. Unfortunately the add-on ID is hard to get in the current version of Browser Cleanup - we are working on this issue. A description how to get the ID can be found here: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=112961.0

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Thomas

Thanks for the reply, first useful reply from Avast after 2014 has been released, maybe there is hope :)

Why isn't there a "report false positive / rating" feature in Browser cleanup from within the software? Having to use a forum for such things, seems a bit 1994.
