Reverting Back to 8.0.1497

Thanks to this forum I was able to revert to the "old" version. When I updated Avast on my netbook, I thought the program mistook the netbook for a phone because the "new" Avast was so different, seemed to have many fewer features, and makes it almost impossible to find some features and settings--and I suspect some simply do not exist in the new version. At least I never found them. Like, the ability to turn off streaming updates, and only 3 shields instead of the previous 8.

Anyway, I successfully reverted and do not plan to update to 2014 until they fix it and make it usable and understandable. And, I have been using Avast since the days when you could choose of multiple "skins." This "skin" doesn't cut it, IMO.

Please fix it, Avast people. Thanks.

Time spent in reconnaissance is seldom wasted, the new layout although different (I don't particularly like it) doesn't take that long getting to know it.

I don't care what it looks like and can learn most softwares eventually.  However, 2014 is killing my plugins, e.g. Adobe Flash, etc., as well as increasing the time to do most everything regardless of the software.

Techs, the sheer number of us coming here to find out how to remove it ought to be a sign.  Don't talk down to us.  Fix it or help us remove it.  And if we want overly intrusive protection, we'll go back to Norton.

D@mmit, 2014 reinstalled itself after I removed it and put the older version back on.  This is a nightmare.

Not a single problem with Flash on my side (Windows 8 x64 + avast! 2014).
Better would be troubleshoot than downgrade, imho.
Which page had the problem, which browsers, other plugins/addons that could interfere...

Bump - it's not fixed yet.  So when can we expect an update to fix these adobe flash bugs and whatever else is kicking us in the tush in 2014?

First hint - get off Win8 when you're testing it.

just adding - I'm another ROLLBACKer... this new UI sucks.  Avast is going down the road of AVG and soon I'll have to find another tool.  Funny - avast is the ONLY AV that I've ever recommended.  Now, I wont' recommend it anymore because of the UI and the collapsed 'shields'.  Consolidated stuff is harder to have granular control and reporting on.  MEH!

is shouldnt update itself automatically unless you press the update software button. 3 days after reinstalling windows 7 and using avast 8.0.1497 no issues so far.

I think he's saying it because there are a lot of ticked off people on the forum that do not like windows 8 and do not like the fact that avast chose to use a fisher price block tile interface like windows 8.  He's saying it because there are a lot of people on here whose computers were working fine 2 weeks ago and now they are plagued with problems.  He's saying it because there are a lot of bugs and for the most part avast is saying it's a problem on your computer and not their upgrade and they are routing people to pay 179 for service.  He's saying it because for the most part avast has not really addressed anyone's concerns saying that they at the very least hear us and are working on the problems and concerns.

but that's just my guess...
