Solution proposed does not work for me (ignore address 'localhost').
Since last February, I had
Windows 8 on a 32bit operating system,
WAMP and
Avast, all working perfectly together. I
upgraded to Windows 8.1 this week and since it told me my Avast was not compatible (the upgrade automatically pushed my AVAST to a folder in Windows.old), I
upgraded to Avast 2014. Since then, problems!!!
I reboot. WAMP icon was now red. I left click on it, chose to click on 'install' (i.e. reinstall) Apache and MySQL. WAMP icon became green but when I was clicking on LOCALHOST, Firefox would open and said it could not find the server at the address
www.localhost.com .
I disabled AVAST for 10 minutes. Miracle, I can now open localhost (and wordpress admin at the same time on my PC). After 10 minutes, or if I restart AVAST, nope, localhost is not accessible anymore.
So, there is something problematic with AVAST 2014 I guess, since it does not seem to be strictly link with Windows 8.1, XAMP, WAMP, etc.!!!
Other problems: Since the upgrade, intermittently, my PC cannot connect to the WIFI, even though my other devices do connect without any problems. I have to reboot a few times and then, suddently it works. I have not found a pattern for this problem yet.
BTW, I "exit"ed SKYPE (so it would not use port 80), I do not have IIS installed, and I did not turned on Windows SmartScreen.
In the Windows action center, it still says that Avast Antivirus isn't compatible with this version of Windows, but I upgraded to 2014!
Anyone else with similar problems as mines? Mr. Avast, solutions you can propose? Thanking you in advance!
