New version of avast sees arca.exe as a virus when it is not. It is a racing simulator execution file. When short cut to file is clicked it sends file to virus base. along with any other files named arca.exe, please rectify , thank you.

Whilst this shouldn't be responsible for the possible FP, the correct version should be 9.0.2006. How did you update to this version ?

If the sample is still in the avast chest, open the chest and right click on the file and submit sent to virus lab...

Maybe though this Program Update.

Once you update over v8, the program update number fixes itself.

I have restored my computer back to before I updated Avast thru the user interface and tried running the arca.exe file again with the same results. I will send the file as you suggested to virus lab, it appears that the newest virus definitions maybe the problem.

Periodically scan the file within the virus chest (same right click used to sent to virus labs, but select scan). If it is confirmed as a false positive avast are usually quick to correct it, hopefully it won't be long before the scan show clean.

Yes it keeps saying it's not a virus so will have to wait on Avast to correct the problem, until then will have to turn off Avast when I run game.

I don't understand, if it is saying that it is not a virus then the detection must have been corrected ?
Or it wouldn't have been sent to the virus chest to start with.

Then there must be something else going on, which we would need more information. Use the 'Restore' option in the virus chest to send a copy of the file back, (a copy remains in the chest)). Now try starting the game again and if avast alerts again, can you capture a screenshot of the avast alert window and attach it in your reply.

Some games use anti-cheat functions and these are generally hidden so they can't be circumvented, this can at times look suspicious, as some malware does the same. That is why a screenshot of the alert will help.

Thanks for the help, Avast  updated today with new virus definitions and the problem is now solved. The old virus defs were 131022-1 and today's defs are4 version 131023-0.ARCA Sim Racing does have anticheat functions in it so maybe that was what it was concerned about. Agin thanks for your help.
