avast update questions?

Hi,

I found that there is a new program update version of avast. So do you recommend to update v8 to v9 ? if yes which is more safe ways to update ? ( update through UI > Maintenance, download a copy of v9 and install over the top of v8, or uninstall/remove v8 then download/install v9 or something else just tell me) cause I set avast program update to manual so I have an option whether I update or not.

With any new program update of Avast the best and safest way to update to a new program version is to uninstall the previous version of avast via add/remove, restart your computer, run your computer in safe mode and use this tool http://www.avast.com/it-it/uninstall-utility to remove avast 8 program files and other files associated with avast 8. It will then again ask you to restart your computer click yes. After that download the new avast 2014. Enjoy

Avast! have always said that you can install the new program over the top of your existing version,  that way of course all your settings should remain,  it worked fine for me.  If you feel happier removing/reinstalling then fine but it is a lot more work.

Yeah i agree with you Rohugh. Some people feel that a clean install is the best, because few problems comes up and etc etc... I do that every time when a new major program update is available i.e. from avast 8- avast 9. When there is a minor update for example avast 9 i just update via GUI
