Avast 9 unble to clean a 7zip FileType folder
« on: October 21, 2013, 03:56:09 PM »
I got a folder containing some malwares.
I is been archieved by 7zip (and has 7zip archieve format)

On manual scan my Avast free V9 detects lots of malware withinmbut when it come to cleanning(automatic fixation) avast says this type of file archieve is not supported making The scanner freeze.
I put one malware in a 7zip folder and avast was able to clean it successfully.so the file type is supported

but the folder I mentioned has more than 45 malwares and Avast cannot handle it.
I can upload the folder somewhere if necessary.

Is the zipped file password protected?
Have you checked what happens when you run a bootscan?
What exact version of avast?
What os and service pack(s)?

No it is not password protected.
I didnt run a boot scan
Avast Free V 9.0.2006, VPS:131020-0

(there is two layers in this file(to pass antivirus scan during mail uploading)

the external layer has a password: 123

but the folder inside( with a 7zip filetype, the folder I mentioned) has no password.

Feel free because it is safe (it is harmless because the malwares are in a zipped folder)

Sorry to present the case here, because I could not submit it to avast support(my bad internet speed cause error during the upload)

I hope Experts can solve the problem and then delete the link

thanks in advance
