Avast 2014 scan results while scanning
« on: October 24, 2013, 11:05:57 AM »
Why is it not possible to see the details of the infected files while scanning? The only thing I can see is the number of infected files. And why is it not possible to tell the scanner what to do with those files while scanning? Waiting till the scann is complete to take some action is going to take more than a day if you have many terabytes of very small files often packed in a other file.

The reason for it is speed. If all scanned files where show, the scan would take a lot longer.

It sure is possible. Open avast > scan > settings

I mean only the details of the infected files, not of the other files. Under stats are the currently scanned files visible (5 files).

It sure is possible. Open avast > scan > settings
Open avast > scan > settings is not available while running a full system scan. My full system scan is now at 50% after 13 hours.

You need to change the settings before scanning, not during scanning.
That wouldn't make sense. If you where able to make changes during a scan, the scan is of no use anymore and you need to start from scratch again.

The configuration is now that avast waits on the user to select the action. But now I have to wait 24 hour+ to select the action. What I want is to delete what is found after 1 hour of scanning. And I do not want to abort, delete the things and restart the scan because it takes to long.

You should have set that before initiating the scan. Now you either have to do with the current settings or start from scratch.

1) Why do you need to wait 24 hrs. before you select an action?
2) Deletion is final. Read this before you delete anything found by avast.  :)
