How to uninstall avast?
« on: October 08, 2013, 02:48:20 PM »
So I already know that this question has been asked numerous times, but I still am not very sure. How do I uninstall avast? I cannot seem to quit the processes; and I do not want my system to go down by just dragging to trash. May I ask how I uninstall avast on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8? (I'm ok with terminal stuff) Because I do not think I need it anymore, for the time being.

You have two possibilities:
 * Run the main gui app. The uninstall option is in its menu. (avast! -> Uninstall avast!)
 * Or download new 8.0 install DMG from CNET. It now comes with standalone uninstall utility. The util is able to uninstall 8.0 as well as the older 7.0 version.

Does this util just uninstall the app or does it get rid of the Application Support and Preference files as well?? I've used the uninstall before installing the new version but am still getting the same 7005 error. And I cannot connect - get the spinning wheel and the message "Retrieving information....."
