Error 42040
« on: May 28, 2005, 11:45:16 PM »
Hi all,
Actually when I start my desktop I've got an Avast! warning popup telling me the vps file was destroy (error 42040).
I've made a system restore (date 27/05/2005) all was OK (vps 0521-3 with 4.6 release). Avast! automaticaly update is vps to 0521-4 without pb...
I close and restar my desktop, and then error 42040 again!
What sould I do ::)
I've already download the vps update (vpsupd.exe) without result :-\
Please, don't let me down 8)

I don't understand anymore...
Just close and restar my desktop (three times)...and everything is OK now ::)
Except the fact I've got few white hairs more now ;D
Hope this error will never come back ???

Error 42040 means that Avast virus signature file is invalid, which can be fixed by being replaced with a newer virus signature by (auto) VPS update.  If you are not sure, just check the time of the last VPS update trough "Avast! Log Viewer" or "About Avast!"  If the time is more recent than the error message, your virus signature should be all right.
