Anti-Virus not working ?

I have Avast Internet Security, the subscription version and XP operating system.

I installed the recent Avast update a few days ago, the Home screen now looks different and I received Avast SafeZone.
Today I received a Windows Security Alert saying that " Avast Internet Security reports that it is turned off".
According to the Avast Internet Security icons, everything is switched on.

Which one do I believe ?

tried avast repair and reboot?

controlpanel > ad/remove programs > avast > uninstall > repair option...wait a minute and reboot

any change?

Thanks for the swift response.

I tried the Repair option and the Windows Security Centre have not issued any warnings, so I hope its fixed.

One thing did concern me is that during the recent upgrade of Avast I had to agree to my DNS being reset and during the Repair process I had to agree again.
Not being very Techie, is this quite normal ?
