I have until now, made 4 friends of mine who had virus problems to switch to avast.
The first was using Norton... Avast found on his computer 239 viruses in differre t places

The second pc had an expired Norton Membership and suggested avast. About 30 viruses found

The third is a laptop that had SAV...  Just finished a boot time scan. 10 on memory test and 110 on boot time

I don't know about the fourth. But It run nod32.

I haven't had virus problems on this pc at all. My old pc had various av programs, but this one more than half year works with avast only.  ;D

Hi Ylap,

I thought your country would win the Eurovision song contest. maybe next time. (Holland and Poland lost) But I reckon you have DSL now. If so you could  once in a while run a free online scan from for instance BitDefender (good Romanian program, not like AVAST but not bad at all). Or download stinger.exe (it is gratis, free, po polsku "za darmo"), a free  scanprogram with the latest anti-virus and anti-trojan definitions (30-40)  from MacAfee. Of course these programs through ActiveX, do not operate in firefox, but MacAfee's stinger.exe allways will function, because it is an stand-alone application. Furthermore one cannot rely soleley on online-scans, because they do not do a boot-up scan as it should (bios) 8).

Kindest regards,

polonus

Hi Niko,

This is the best one-liner I heard about AVAST. In french it must sound even better. Merci bien, c'est vrai.

All the best from,

I'm using Bit Defender Online Scan. It's already on my computer, so I run it once a month maybe. I want to add - I'm still on dial up.  :'( Thanks for good opiniom about eurovision. As I have seen all Lithuanian performers I can say that it was really the best we ever shown on eurovision. But...  ;D

Online scans are useful but most of them won't remove the virus that it detected.  For me I just use Anti Vir 6 as my secondary scanner (Not using the active guard of course).  It's alot quciker cause I don't have to install the Active X and do all this setting configuration.  BitDefender Online I believe is very very very useful along with House Call, but I just like to scan my PC Offline.   :)
