Compatibility of Avast with OSX 10.9 Maverick
« on: October 25, 2013, 08:09:33 PM »
Hi all,

Just installed OSX 10.9 Maverick.
After the install I got the message that Avast (8.0) is not compatible with this version of OSX.

What should I do?

You can safely install, run and use avast 8 on Maverics. Apple says we are incompatible because of an issue that has been fixed a long time ago, even before this operating system was released. Only Apple hasn't retest it yet.
No worries, it works just fine.

Thanks for that.

I did have to uninstall and then re-install, because after the update to 10.9 Maverick, the Preference of Avast did not work anymore.

Now I've got difficulty re-registering the software, but I guess that will sort itself out...

thx!

I have the same problem.  Preferences don't work.  Should I uninstall and re-install as well?  Is this an official fix? lol

I can't get the Avast Web icon to show in Firefox even with it being installed. Any ideas on how to get this to work. Also if you are having trouble with no preference pane go to the finder/Macintosh HD/ incompatible files folder and click on the preference for Avast.

joelw135 try this: Firefox > Tools > Add-ons > Extensions > avast! Online Security > Enable
