Cannot delete rootkit: hidden file
« on: October 28, 2013, 03:42:30 PM »
When I perform a full scan I get a message stating I have an infected file.  When I look at the log it states that it is a rootkit: hidden file.  Ths action I select is "delete".  Avast states that I have to reboot my pC and sggests that I perform a boot time scan. I have done that twice and each time the boot time scan shows no infected files but a subsequent full scan states that I have this infected rootkit:hidden file.

How can I delete this file.

A screenshot would be nice.
Before you delete anything read this first.
Dell Inspiron, Win10x64--HP Envy Win10x64--Both systems Avast Free v17.9.2322, Comodo Firewall v8.2 w/D+, MalwareBytes v3.0, OpenDNS, Super Anti-Spyware, Spyware Blaster, MCShield, Unchecky, Vivaldi Browser and, various browser security tools.

Found the answer myself.  Open PC in safe mode, search for folder, select file, delete file. Problem solved.
