How do I add an exclusion?

Avast won't let me run Java 7 for stock quotes.  I went to the exclusions place and pasted in my broker http etc: but nothing happened.  Guess I'm missing something.    I'm no computer wiz and need some step by step help.  THanks in advance.

On your indivdual machine? Or for all the client machines?
