40tude Dialog

When running a virus check, I have twice recently found viruses in the data folder of 40tude Dialog newsreader.
I have Avast set up to scan Internet Mail and the Standard Shield. I know this picks up mail viruses, but should it pick up Newsgroup viruses or is there a setting for this?

Did you set Internet Mail provider to scan NNTP protocol (news)?

Yes I have.
I had to re-install Avast recently from MSbackup as compacting database wiped all my settings. Perhaps they were hiding there. Although they were in /data/  NOT in /data_old/.
