HI I have a question why are you running avast with Panda cloud any ways?  Decide witch av you want and uninstall the other av never have two av's running at the same time.  Av's sometimes conflict with each other more times then not and also it takes up a lot of resources to run two av's at once.  Your computer is not protected any greater anyways.  Just uninstall one av and keep the other av updated and you will be fine.

Have a good evening.

Well someone from their dev-team should be answerable for this nonsense...........shouldn't they? This isn't some random software which could have been "innocently" flagged.

How many people would have simply removed this app without knowing it's a FP?  >:(

Take it easy legenkiller, have you never made a (small) mistake? I bet you did.
Keep in mind that it is not possible to test a av for false positives against every software that is out there.

I sure hope many people have removed it.
Panda is not exactly known for its good detection.
Why having the installer? I only can think of one reason. To install Panda.
As Diddy said, never run two av's at the same time.

And who says it is a false positive?
It can be Panda made a mistake so one (or more) of their malware definitions is visible to other av's.

it is not uncommon that security programs detect other security programs.... and this is one of the reasons you should not install multiple AV

why you should not install muliple AV explained here
read reply from quietman7 here.   http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic186533.html

The problem with Panda is that it does not encrypt its virus definitions..  So Avast sees the virus body and kills it dead, which is what it is paid to do.

So you need to talk to Panda and tell them to encrypt the definitions

Its the installer itself which is being flagged and not the definitions etc.
Also the program itself is not under discussion here but rather the fact that a well known company is being flagged as malware.

It would be interesting to know which website it was being downloaded from we would be safe to assume it could be a iffy website.

The op has not stated whether its the panda website being flagged.

Has anyone else actually thought to try the panda website?.

It is inexcusable for any security product to be flagging a known security vendor and the only possible conclusion here is that either avast has a faulty whitelist or panda was downloaded from a bad website.

Thanks.

They all do it. It's not some conspiracy.  Norton for a time would detect Malwarebytes and tell you to remove it. They finally relented and whitelisted it after a large outcry.

As essexboy said it's Pandas unencrypted definitions that are being detected, the definitions are in the installer exe.

This statement is not strictly true.
If you take the case of webroot secure anywhere which has been engineered to run alongside existing security solutions.

Your statement may hold true for a majority of av software but there are exceptions to the rule.

Have a good evening also.

Webroot might run with some AV's but it's not recommended with avast so lets get back on topic as Webroot is not part of the discussion of this thread.
