How to install the avast! AV Webrep Add-On in Pale Moon (Guide)

When you install avast! Antivirus, it will not install the Webrep add-on for Pale Moon as it only supports IE, Chrome, or Firefox

Here is an easy workaround that will enable to install the avast! webrep add-on and have it completely functional:

1) Navigate to: C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\WebRep\FF

2) Highlight all the files in that folder, then right click on them and choose SEND TO > Compressed (Zipped) Folder

You will get a message saying:

"Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"

Choose YES



3) Go to your desktop, you will find a file named: content.zip

Rename that file to content.xpi (I personally rename it to avast! webrep.xpi)

Note: You must have "Have extensions for known file types" unchecked in the Control Panel > Folder options to be able to see the file extension

4) Now open your Pale Moon Browser, then go to Add-Ons

5) Click on the small wrench icon on the top right, then choose Install Add-On

6) Navigate to the location where you placed the avast webrep add-on and double click on it to install it then restart your browser when prompted

I have tested the add-on with Pale Moon and it works perfectly, both the site reputation and the search result safe or dangerous site notifications
