I can't disable the firewall
« on: November 04, 2013, 12:28:34 PM »
This is my first post ever.
I have the paid IS 2014. I'm having some issues with the firewall. It won't let my O&O 17 Pro Defrag program's GUI start.
Everything is grayed out and after maybe 10 seconds O&O shows a message that:

"A connection attempt to O&O Defrag service on machine localhost failed. The most common cause for this problem is the
firewall of the remote computer is blocking the TCP port 50300. Please open this port in the firewall."

I went into the firewall settings and set it to allow, allow, allow- everything having to do with O&O Defrag. I told it to open
all ports to O&O. Rebooted the pc just to rule that out. STILL can't use my fine, trusted, expensive defrag program.
I want to disable JUST the firewall until I have time to trace the problem down. BUT, I can't figure out how to disable
just the firewall alone! All I know to do is right-click the tray icon and disable ALL shields. That disables it, but- not cool.
Advice is welcome, but please also just tell me how to disable the firewall... Thanks
M
