Avast will not remove detected rootkits
« on: November 04, 2013, 11:07:21 PM »
I updated (or reinstalled) my Avast antivirus this weekend.  The deep scan detected two rootkits affecting some Java files.  I decided to let Avast delete the two rootkits.

I have allowed the program to reboot my system and run a boot-time scan, twice, as it requests.  However, when I rescan, Avast claims the two rootkits are still in the Sandbox, and in order to complete their removal, I have to allow a boot-time scan!

What am I doing wrong (if anything)?  TDSS Killer did not find the purported rootkits.

Any advice is welcome.  Thanks.

As they are in the sandbox that is a protected area..  Just reset the sandbox

How do I do that?  I have the free version and the Sandbox listing is grayed out.
