Doesn't Write USB Rescue Disk

Just got and installed Avast Free Antivirus on Windows 7 Home Premium.  Tried to create a USB Rescue Disk.  The progress bar moves along saying Preparing Rescue Disk Image... and at the end just returns to the Rescue Disk screen.  Nothing gets written to the USB and it remains unmodified.  Any advice appreciated.

Did you passed a part Downloading toolkit...

It goes very, very slow...nothing is happenning for few minutes...

Yes, the first time I tried it I got the "Downloading toolkit" message where it stayed for a while but at the end, the USB stick was left unchanged. Subsequent attempts skipped the downloading message but still wrote nothing to the USB stick.

What must be the state of the USB drive prior to running this?  Does it matter which file system, how many partitions, which type of partition, etc.?

Hi.
Most of the support comes from Avast users and Evangalists who share same and similar concerns and of course the forum malware removal specialists.
I personally have not tried that option (Rescue Disk) so I can't speak from experience on that function. But I can say by the readings I have followed over the last weeks, there are others with issues and I'm sure the developers are aware.  :)

+1 on inability to get past the "Downloading toolkit" part. I was trying to make a CD. I've given up on it as it's probably not something I really need anyway (I already made the non-Avast standard Windows rescue disks and system image etc), but it would have been nice to have the Avast feature work right just for something to play with.  :) Oh well, everything else about Avast seems to work fine so I guess I can live without this feature. But if the feature doesn't work, seems like they ought to remove it.

jsmith, hello and welcome to the forum!

Please try to save ISO file into the folder and then attach please EventLog.log which located in C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\ (windows 7) or C:\Documets and settings\All users\Application Data\ (windows xp)
