rooted install on android 4.4 kitkat / nexus 5 fails
« on: November 07, 2013, 11:55:43 AM »
hi,

it seems the rooted installation of anti-theft does not work for me on my new nexus 5 with android 4.4 / kitkat. i've tried two times with advanced install and "direct write method" but no popup for supersu occurs and it does install normally instead rooted.
root itself works properly with other software (avast firewall, adfree, busybox, etc).

what info can i provide in order to assist further or is it known that it does not work yet (didn't finy anything on the forum).

Yep, same goes for me. No root whatsoever with kitkat on the Nexus 5.
Strangely, Alvast Mobile Security, is listed in SuperSU, but when installing Anti-theft, no permission is asked.

Cool now I don't feel so crazy cause I love the app and 4.4 looking forward to the update. Btw I'm on a Motorola Razr M, a clean rom of 4.4

I have found a host of other problems in avast for the nexus 5. Even though I made a rooted installation, it says no under root installation in settings.

Also, when I send SMS commands, the command activates but is clearly visible through hangouts (a notification is even received). Lastly, the locate command is not working at all.

Thanks for the quick reply. About how long is the process of you submitting update to Google Play and them dispatching it?

I just installed Anti theft on my Nexus 4 running Android 4.4 and chose to install it to root but it also didn't work.

I am also running 4.4 on my Nexus 4, and see similar behavior as was reported for the Nexus 5: Can install as root, but then System State shows an unrooted installation and I can not save my settings as hard-reset proof. This is true whether I am doing a direct-write or update.zip installation

Additionally, the locate command is broken: I see a popup stating that my anti-theft application's name has encountered an error and needs to close. What is the version number of the release that fixed these issues for the Nexus 5? Should I expect it to fix the Nexus 4 as well?

Today is 11/18, just tried to install the "rooted" version of Anti-Theft and still say I don't have Root, even though I have root and many other "root required" apps are working fine.

Everytime I try to enable GPS part of Anti-Theft it say I need to install the Root version of Anti-Theft.  Even though I am using the Advance installation

PLease fix asap

mzbe,

To help avast! out, are you using a Nexus 4 or Nexus 5? If a Nexus 4, do you have a Kit Kat (4.4) ROM installed?

I am on Android 4.4 CM11 but not on a Nexus 4 or 5 but Galaxy S3 (ATT).
