Windows 7 crash (blue screen) after install avast 2014
« on: November 07, 2013, 04:25:34 PM »
I downloaded avast 2014 from the official website, after installation, my windows crashed and I got a blue sreen, I repeated the procedure two times but got the same, blue screen.

I logged in with safe mode, tried to uninstall avast, but the application (avast repair/uinstall) just closed. so I restaured my windows to a previous point, but I think avast is still installed, although it's not listed in the installed software.

so my questions are :

1. Why I am having this issue ?
2. Where I can download the previous avast version ?
3. If I just delete the remaining avast files does that clean up the install (again, after windows restauration, its not listed in the installed software, but the files are still there)

Configuration :
fresh windows 7 installtion (updated)
64 bits system

No, I am not connected to Avast, just another person who has their Internet Security installed on both of my computers.  Perhaps I can help you with your questions, if not then Please contact their Support.

Can you use Last Known Configuration so at least you can get back on your computer and then remove the registry keys, etc that was left over on your computer?  If you can, then use either CCleaner or ReveUninstaller to remove the rest of the left overs of Avast off your computer.

Thanks for the replay, as I said in my message I already restaured my computer to a previous point, I think the restauration process also restaured the registery keys, but I am not sure, I will give a try to cCleaner.

Sorry, I miss that you had restore your computer.  Try CCleaner.  They have a option for a Registry Cleaner.  If you do not mind, please let me know your results?
