I'm sure you have a concern and can most certainly appreciate that.
I am not experiencing any abnormalities or power drain and usually don't spend time rummaging around in settings if I'm not drawn too.
If there is an issue under the hood then your concerns have hopefully brought attention.
Good luck.

OK, I can respect your decision not to do the test because you have no reason to do so; however, the test is so simple (just clicking a link as identified my the first post), I thought I might be able to entice you into doing it because it really would be nice to hear one person say "hey, mine works OK!"; however, we'll just have to wait a bit more for that confirmation from someone else. Thanks for your response,

Best regards,

Hi skinnypops,

Thanks for that! So, now we can assume that Vista x32 may be unaffected.

I must admit some surprise at the fact that my support ticket on this issue has not yet been assigned or actioned.

I have just installed the latest build, 2014.9.0.2007.
The boot-up time lag has been fixed but the Power Management Issue remains.

UPDATE: I am now running Avast 2014 v2014.9.0.2007 and I have just retested and confirmed that the "restore default power settings" now works as designed on my rig. I am also up to date with all Windows 8.1 updates applied. Hopefully it will work for everyone else as well. Any chance Avast could have snuck in a streaming update to fix this issue? Anyway, good luck to all.

Based on your post I just checked my Power Options and can confirm that the problem appears to be fixed in Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit) also.
Windows 10 (64bit); 8GB RAM; Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro; avast Free (latest version)

Hi Gandalf1369,

Thanks for that confirmation! So I guess they did sneak the fix in via a streaming update because that last program update version still had the problem when I first installed it.

Thanks again and case closed.

I'm not sure that I have fully understood the power management issue / resolution or that my situation is relevant.  I run Windows XP and have for quite some time been plagued with  l o n g  boot up times.  If I try to go online before the system has fully settled down - I usually leave it for 10 minutes or so - the machine crashes and Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work.  Given time the system will perform normally.  Having tried to identify all the obvious causes I'm wondering if Avast doing its start-up routine might be responsible.  Sometimes the system seems to free up after the pop up screen appears confirming that the latest definitions have been installed.  I have ticked the settings box saying to load services after start-up but this does not appear to make much difference.
If this is off this topic I can raise it in a fresh new thread depending on reaction from readers.
