avast 2014 can not save "Explorer scan" settings properly.
« on: November 10, 2013, 10:34:33 AM »
avast 9.0.2008 free x86.

avast 2014 can not save "Explorer scan" settings properly. (settings not persist)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Users can configure context menu scan settings via-
AVAST UI>>SETTINGS>>ANTIVIRUS>>SPECIAL SCANS>> EXPLORER SCAN --> SETTINGS.

I found that some of these settings not saved and will revert to default state automatically.
Some of them are-->
Custom Packers settings
Scan for potentially unwanted programs (check box)
Actions> Automatically apply actions during scan (check box)

-------------------Workaround----------------------------------------------------
One can create the bug, just open Explorer scan settings and click Packers tab, now select some custom packers,
save the settings and close all related dialogs.
Now scan a blank folder using right click context menu. (important step)
Now open up the settings window again, see what? packers setting will be reverted to default state.
means "All packers" check box will found to be checked each time.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If someone found/confirm this bug too. please forward to avast team !
thanks!  :) :)

Same here on Avast Home 2014.9.0.2011 on WinXp

It doesn't matter if you do a scan or not.Just change the settings,hit ok to close the window and when you open it again,"All packers" will be selected again(all other settings I tried  are remembered but not the packers)

Avast is installed after uninstall using the uninstaller from here in safe mode

@vsub
I am also a Windows XP Pro SP3 user here.
I have avast 9.0.2011 free (clean install).
But i have no problems here, (avast  saving EXPLORER SCAN >>PACKERS settings properly)

Can you reset your avast settings-- (see in image)
then follow the steps in the very first post, see if problems occurs.

I'll try that later but I just wanted to say that I also tried just now on Win7 starter laptop and it was the same...those settings are not saved.

Change=>Ok=>Open the settings again=>All Packers is checked again
The same applies for the test with empty folder
