parite virus.
« on: October 07, 2003, 03:10:21 PM »
 ???
I have just recently installed AVAST 4 HOMe on my home pc.
I have the "PARITE" virus, every time I do a scan the virus is found.
The only option which works is to delete the *.exe file.
Repair, Move, nothing else seems to work.

Do I need to create the VRDB file before I run a scan or what!!!!

Should I run the scan in SAFE MODE?

In case you havent noticed,I am a novice........

Hi,
Please tell us which Win you have
and where exactly the virus was found (full path and filename of the infected file)

THis can be cleaned with avast, but as you are a novice:

- for Win 9x / ME  -> I'd advise F-Prot AV-Bootdisks or Trend's emergency disks [/me]
http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=PE_PARITE.A

- for Win NT/2000/XP -> some manual removal action is required: also explained in the Trend-Link above ;)

also use the board-search looking for
PINFI
or
PARITE ;)

Hi ,
Win98 is my platform,

the virus appears at the very start of my scan in *.exe files.

Well, of course, as it's an .EXE-infecting virus

WHICH exe-files ? Like:
C:\windows\explorer.exe

but the removal-procedure/Links outlined above still applies.. ;)

 :)
Used the link above to trend micros.
Had over 500 files infected with the virus, after running the Emergency boot disk, I was able to update Norton and scan my hard drive.
32,000   files over 500 infected, *.exe files and scr, vbo files/
It seemed like every exe file on my system was infected.
1 file was put into quarintine, was not able to repair.
otherwise its
Now clean and have updated Norton virus definitions .

Thanks for all your help...
