Problems with Avast 2014 (Free)
« on: November 14, 2013, 02:32:13 AM »
When my avast updated to the first 2014 build, I started noticing problems. It started with sliding headers on websites being blocked, and other java applets being blocked. Some games on Facebook don't fully load. The blocking of java applets is more prevalent on Firefox than on Chrome.

The WORST part is that Avast is blocking Thunderbird from downloading my email (imap), and has changed the port for server settings on one of my mail accounts (pop3), so that Thunderbird can not connect to get my mail.

I have uninstalled, rebooted; used the Avast cleaner, rebooted. Downloaded the most recent version of Avast (9.0.2008) and did a clean install. And still, I have all of these problems. Nothing has changed.

I have never had a problem with Avast in 12 years until the past couple of weeks.  How do I correct this?
