NDIS Minifilter issue will be fixed in next release. It does no harm, it's just remnant of the old installation.
The problem is  the breakpoint error occurs with or without the NDIS stuff. If you leave the statistics open when you are using your computer (as I do), you will eventually reach the breakpoint.

No answer on breakpoint from me. Can you create a process dump (it should be possible in task manager on Windows 7+) at the moment you see the error dialog?

Send it to kominek _at_ avast.com.

Thanks.

It usually takes like 1.5-2 hours of the statistics window being open for it to happen. The next time I get one, I will send it to you.

I'll try it on my PC.

Noted on the XP system that all NDIS Miniport drivers (there are several) are marked as active and functioning properly.  Not that it is going to make much difference, as XP support ends in April of next year, but why the difference between XP and Win 7 as far as the NDIS drivers go?  Why are Windows NDIS drivers affected/broken and XP not?

I've not had a re-occurrence of the breakpoint error since it happened again, but then again I don't run the Statistics window as long as leftisthominid does.  I open it when needed, look, and close it soon after.  Both breakpoints happened when I forgot it was running for a time.  So, if left open, it does breakpoint eventually.

There is a difference how firewall works on Windows XP and Windows 7 - there are two different firewalls, actually. Windows XP uses those miniports (NDIS Intermediate Driver) which creates "fake" network adapters to filter traffic. Windows 7 implements filters directly and thus there is no need for miniports (Windows Filtering Platform).

Windows 7 way is better, shinier and also less problematic but also relatively new. Windows XP is tested through time and when it works, it's rock solid but with several major drawbacks making it my little nightmare when deployed to millions of users. :-)

Speedy reply, there.   ;D

Thanks for the info.  I'm sure XP is going to be everyone's headache soon enough, firewall or otherwise.

TBH, if I get or see a software glitch on a system here, and that issue can be avoided, as here, say, by not running the Statistics window for an extended amount of time, that is usually what I wind up doing.  That's my workaround.

Far fewer headaches that way.  This topic is FYI, and in that regard, it seems to have succeeded.
