I'm wondering why Avast Anti Virus didn't work properly on my desktop.
I used Avast Free Anti-virus version 2014.9.0.2008, and my web browser was Firefox (V.25.0). When I tried to open software updater (of Avast Anti-virus), there were other web browsers - that is, IE and Google Chrome. However, my browser (Firefox) was not available - I couldn't not see Firefox in the Avast software updater. So, I reset database software updater. Then, the program said "Avast service is off." I thus tried to solve this problem (the avast didn't work) by uninstalling Avast from my computer, and reinstalled it; but it still didn't work (the "service is off" reappeared.)
However, when I have changed to use Firefox ESR (24.1.1), the avast anti-virus works well - I can see the firefox browser in the software updater (in avast program).
I'm wondering if this version of Avast (2014.9.0.2008) is compatible with Firefox version 25.0. How do I fix this problem? Please advise.
