Yellow triangle on system tray icon
« on: November 19, 2013, 10:48:44 PM »
I have elected for good reasons not to update from version 8.0.1497 to 9.0.2008.  This has caused the system tray icon to show a yellow triangle.  I am perfectly aware that I am not using the current version since I chose not to.  Now, if another issue arises the yellow warning triangle is already deployed (to tell me something that I already knew) so is unable to attract my attention if another more important issue arises about which I have no previous knowledge.

I am stuck with an irritant that actually reduces the chances of my attention being drawn to a new issue which I was previously unaware of.  Is this sensible?

Well you can change that in the avast 8 settings.

The problem being not using avast 8 it is hard to remember exactly where it was. But I think it is in the Status Bar section and there should be an action not to monitor the program update status.

I changed the program update setting to manual update but still get the yellow triangle. Annoyingly if I hover the mouse over the Avast icon it says my system is not fully protected when all it means is a program update is available.
Avast Free 20.3.2405 - Comodo 12.2.2.7036 Firewall with D+ - Winpatrol Free.
On demand - MBAM - Super Antispyware.
Windows 10 64bit - 16GB Ram.

If you have the latest program version 2014.9.0.2008 then:-
Click on Settings->Appearance->Status Monitoring->Untick Program version box

You're welcome.

They are all ticked by default to start with, so you didn't do it, but you do have to uncheck them if there is an item you don't want monitored.

Footnote:  Avast have done the right and sensible thing. Their judgement of such things is good and obviously well thought through. I just couldn't see it.
