New Avast Startup thing?
« on: November 23, 2013, 06:28:16 PM »
WinPatrol jumps up and says Avast has inserted a new startup thing.

What is it and why has it been inserted in my computer without my knowledge?

E8448DEF-479D-40D7-A6D2-C381981F2668.EXE

What is this for and how do I get rid of it???
Thanks.

It would appear to be an "emergency update".   We are questioning it here:   http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=140730.0

So far, no one has been able to tell us what it's for, nor why it's running at every startup (as opposed to running just once to fix something).
Lenovo T530 laptop, Intel Core i5-3320M @ 2.60 GHz, 8GB RAM, Windows 7 Pro SP1 (64-bit), avast! 17 Free, MBAM3 Pro, Windows Firewall, MVPS HOSTS file, OpenDNS Family Shield, Zemana AntiLogger Free, SpywareBlaster, IE11 & Firefox [both using WOT (IE set to WARN, FF set to BLOCK)], WinPatrol PLUS, uBlock Origin, MBAE, MCShield, CryptoPrevent, SAS (on-demand scanner).
[I believe computer-users who sandbox (Sandboxie) are acting prudently.]

Hi ky331,
Ok thanks for that.  Yes I am wondering that as well.  I re-booted my computer twice and the thing is still sitting in there ready to go again everytime I restart.

I agree, if it's there to fix something why not run just once and that's it!  Thanks..
