Problem with Avast 9 and Ccleaner

Hi!

Let's see if someone can help me with this.
If I have avast 9 (.2006 or .2007, it doesn't matter) and I try to disable/enable/remove a windows startup item using CCleaner, I can't. I get an "access denied" error. This NEVER happened before. It didn't happen with Avast 8 and it doesn't happen before install Avast 9. I install avast 9 and I get the problem (I mean on a fresh windows installation, I can do it as long as I don't install avast 9)
I can, though, disable startup items using other programs (like codestuff starter), it's specific to Ccleaner.
any ideas?
This has happened to me on several different machines, running diff. OSes.

I can not confirm this; on my system, with AIS 2014 v9.0.2007, all functions of CCleaner work.  Can you do the changes if you start CCleaner as an Administrator?

Just FYI, no issue with CCLeaner functions here on Win 8.1

I didn't have anything else better to do, so I tried it on your behalf...

I deleted a coupla startup items with the Ccleaner startup tool (see attached graphic), no problems. It might help if you can post a similar graphic, as well as a graphic of your error message.

Note that I run a barebones avast (see my signature below).

You might try disabling various avast shields/options. I would probably start by disabling avast completely, temporarily for 10 minutes, then see if you can use the Ccleaner startup tool. If NO, then it's something systemic. If YES, then add back the various avast shields/options until you isolate the culprit. Just a hunch, be sure to test the scripts shield (part of the new web shield)...

I never have this problem on both Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64bit and WinXP Pro SP3 32bit.
Avast 9 and CCleaner both works on my side without any problem between them.

Yes, it still happens with the latest release of Avast 2014 Free, and the latest release of CCleaner on my Windows 7 Pro. 64 bit system.  It doesn't happen with all startup items, just some.  The subject has been raised previously in another thread.

Exactly, for some strange reason, I can disable some, but some I can't.
This has happened on diff. OSes and different machines.
It doesn't matter if avast is disabled or enabled, makes no difference. Running in admin mode makes no difference, plus I have UAC disabled anyway.
I just tested in a freshly installed OS. I was able to enable disable an specific item. I installed avast and now I got blocked, "access denied" error, just like the one in the previous post .
And, like I said, the item than can't be removed with ccleaner, can be removed with codestuff starter. There's something that Avast is doing, that blocks registry access to ccleaner.

From what I read on the other topic, it seems that avast is blocking access to some registry sections (I believe it's HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node) due to it's self-defense. Disabling avast's self-defense solves the problem (not recommended, though).
I think avast is blocking access to the whole section, instead of just protecting its own startup entry (and only that).
Another bug that needs fixing ASAP.

No problem with Avast en CCcleaner on Windows 7 here.
I do have an older version of CCcleaner.

Have you tried to make exclusions?
GUI>Settings>Antivirus>scroll down to "Exclusions".
