License Key
« on: October 08, 2003, 08:16:42 PM »
Just a bit of info....

280  knocked out my Registered License Key and put me in Demo mode. :-\

Other than that all *seems* ok.

Can you publish here your HOME license key, please? Publish only the text before the hyphen (for "secure" reasons).

Hi odpad,

Not sure what you mean, I have the 'Pro' (paid up) License, anyway here's the part of the code you asked for (Vlk re-sent it to me following a crash)

Does avast accept the code when you re-enter it? If so, does it allow to do any updates?

If not, can you, please, send me the logs? New way is to run from commandline program "ashbug /setuplog"

What OS are you running it on? Isn't that a server?

thanks,

Hi Kubecj,

Yep, I've re-entered it and it's business as usual. I only mentioned it for info.

Anyway, running XP-HE at the moment.

Now TELL ME  :D what info is Avast gleaning from my PC  ??? ?-?-?-?-?-?

What makes you mention 'server  8) :-\ :)

You know, there were some slight changes in licenses processing, so I'm trying to catch the possible bug.

I looked in the crystal ball and whispered... Walker... And it said 'server-02' and 'server-2'  ;D ;D ;D

Don't be afraid. We don't record/send any sensitive info. No list of software, no lists of downloaded communism, nothing. Just few stats about the updating process.

Jindrich,

OK, I started getting curious, but theres a very valid reason that I ask the following, what does this do/mean from the aswMaiSv log....

10/08/03 20:35:48:   UseDefaultSmtp settings changed 0(0x00000000)
10/08/03 20:35:48:   POP Start settings changed: 1(0x00000001)
10/08/03 20:35:48:   SMTP Start settings changed: 1(0x00000001)
10/08/03 20:35:48:   IMAP Start settings changed: 1(0x00000001)

Could be IMPORTANT to me... info please.

Thanks.

Don't know. It has something to do with ashMaiSv program which does SMTP/POP/IMAP proxying scanner.

Wait for Vojtech to reply.

This is nothing about spying, this is about mail scanning.  ;)

Thanks Jinrich,

I'm not concerned about 'spying'... it's just our conversation got me thinking.

I've had a few blue screen crashes referencing those memory locations and for obvious reasons I'm trying to establish what programs etc are addressing them.

It is important, if you can prompt Vojtech for me (when he returns) I would appreciate it.

Thanks

These are values of variables from avast4.ini section [MailScanner] (or their default values). They don't represent memory locations, just 1/0 (YES/NO) in this case.
