Problem with Win32:Trojan-gen. {Other}
« on: June 08, 2005, 11:18:21 PM »
I run  Avast 4.6 0523-4, 050608 virus database. Windows XP Home Edition, SP2 and all latest updates. I have 0.5Mbps ADSL internet connection.

Problem as follows:

If I start the computer Avast find a virus: Win32:Trojan-gen. {Other} in the following file installer.exe located in c:/documents and settings/....

Withing a minute the internet connection is terminated.

HOWEVER:

If I unplug the network cable to my ADSL modem before starting the computer, and then reconnect the cable  after windows have started, there is no sign of viruses and I am able to stay connected to internet as long as I want!

Does anyone have an idea how to clean this virus?

Thanks for any help!

It appears to be a false positive. Check the file online here:

http://www.virustotal.com/xhtml/index_en.html

if any scanner detect a virus then it is a real virus if not then it is a false positive. Send the file to virus@avast.com in a compressed password protected archive, dont forget to inlcude the password in the body of the email.
