Avast safe zone huge problem HELP

hi guys
so i bought Avast internet security sometime ago and now when i want to use the safe zone all hell breaks loose and every time there is a problem with it
here are some of them
1:- the whole thing goes unresponsive and the only way to get out and fix it is to cut the power
2:- safe zone is open but the Chromium browser wont even open no matter how many time i click it but in the task manager it says its there
3:- trying to open the browser will give an error saying something like some file terminated or something.
4:- the browser fails to connect to the internet
5:- even if it works fine after closing the safe zone either my whole pc goes unresponsive or wont connect to the internet or something else there is always something wrong with it and all i can do is to cut the power.
all in all theres always something wrong with it
i already tried doing a clean install and it did NOT help AT ALL.
help please.

Wish I could help but I don't use the Avast Firewall.
I only say because  I had a similar kind of thing and eventually found it was a setting in my 'Firewall' that was screwing everything up/hindering Internet connection etc.
Just a thought.
