Further to my above post I had this pop-up.  I am not going to follow it up for the moment as I am not sure what it is going to do.  ;)

I think this is what it does! Found a cute video about jumpshot (Grime Fighter) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXZ0bZV3fzk

For me, Avast! Online Security didn't install.
That's also the reason I wasn't able to see it at work.
I removed the old version and installed the new version of this extension
by dropping the C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\WebRep\Chrome\AswWebRepChrome.crx
onto the chrome://extensions/ .
I now have version 9.0.2009.61 of that chrome extension running.

( This is a feature that some people may like but, I highly doubt that it can be considered protection
and therefore think it should be a free add-on for those that want it. )

So i assume that SavePrice is integrated with Avast Online Security? To me SavePrice has nothing to do with security, so when the final version of this update is released I will not be installing the Browser Plugin via custom install.

Will Avast still protect me from web threats by using web browser without installing the browser plugin?

The web shield is the main protection against web threats

Well that's good, but it will suck if we don't install AOS due to social networks, Ad tracking, Web Analystics, and others being blocked in the AOS settings and protecting our privacy.

Disable what you don't want and keep the rest and also still keep the phishing protection
this extension gives you.

Dear DavidR, I assume you feel like I feel about this?

More crapware!

Why don't we fix the problems 1st?

Other than the problem with the auto update notifications issue I had no problem with 2008, for me I didn't think there was anything bloat/cr4pware.

Personally I think avast being a security company should keep their security programs security related. Any thing like this if included should be opt-in not installed by default. The more non-security related functionality the more people will complain of bloat, etc. Worse when you get something that you didn't install, yet runs.

Is there a way to disable Grimefigther prior to installing in the future for 8.1, I got some encrypted flash drives so I guess i'll wait on installing at this point on the Desktop, will probably test a bit on the older laptop, and see how it performs.

Personally I feel being a security company, Save Price should be an optional free add on, instead of installed by default as it currently is.  Been using Avast since version 4.5, so adding more bloatware oriented items I feel is gonna maybe cause more issues or more stuff to trouble shoot in the program

Plan to Eventually get an Android phone so I can use Avast Mobile Security as well, and feel safe surfing on the phone, and storing music files and such, but can't upgrade til 2015, so I guess for now will continue using Windows Phone 8

Which Version of Avast will Include Grimefighter?
Avast Free?
Pro?
Internet Security?
or Premier

(Currently installed beta on XP Laptop, and so far don't see a sign of Grimefighter on that install)

The irony isn't lost on me... Avast becomming more bloated each update and then adding to the bloat: an anti-bloat grimefighter...

Ok Originally didn't see Grimefighter on XP Laptop, after finished a first scan it showed up, letting it run on that PC to fully test it, as really nothing important on the XP Laptop, and see how it behaves, so far got to Downloading image 99 percent, and that's where it stands for now.

Scan was clean as well

I now see why even though GrimeFighter wasn't installed/enabled it was run after installation and reboot.

Now you can get Grime Ads in the User Interface, attached image. Interestingly it differs greatly from the first GrimeFighter popup I got after it ran.

Would you please consider un-blocking the size of the avast main window?

This can become very annoying, when installed on small  computers, like netbooks f.i., that use 1024x600 screen

Ran fine and took about 30 minutes to complete the process; can't tell what it cleaned or refined. Still checking.

I don't want to install Grimefighter.. It should not be mandatory. I hope that the final version we have option to install it or not, nor do I want to install if you upgraded from the program interface. Not what i want and don't need it. Guys avast, i know they have good intentions and is welcome but have to give the option of doing it or not.. Thanks and if you can answer this question we have been a long time deliberating http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=140730.0

Hi guys,

thanks a lot for the feedback with grimeFighter
- it is available in all avast! editions
- it is premium feature, will be offered under separate license, similar to avast! secureLine
- there are few UI issues - will be fixed
- also custom installation will be improved
- right now it works in a way, when you click optimize my PC, grimeFighter is downloaded first

Please feel free to try it and make your opinion.
really looking forward for your feedback
