Avast install Chrome! Help
« on: December 06, 2013, 08:49:03 AM »
Help. After installing the latest version of Avast, it started to install another browser without asking my permission. I already have a browser (Firefox) and I do not want Chrome. I do not trust Google and do not wish to have their products on my computer.

You need to choose custom install before installing any program.

If you want to choose what you want, always choose custom install for every program.

You did give them permission by going with the recommended install.

You should have seen an "opt-out" screen during the install.
If not simply uninstall Chrome.
Personally I prefer Chrome.  8)

Just don't click, click, click your way through an install.
Nowadays it's a common practice to "piggy-back" software during an install.

edit: Using the custom install has nothing to do with the Chrome "opt-out" screen.
The "opt-out" screen is in all versions.
