Silent/gaming mode still protecting me?

Hello, I'm pretty new to avast and couldn't find a straight answer on this. I use silent/gaming mode to stop all the pop-ups I was getting from avast, but wanted to know if I will still be protected.  If something malicious tries to get in, will avast still let me know?

As far as I am aware alerts ignore the silent mode stricture

You will be protected but you will not get any pop-ups, alerts included.
